‘We needed to make Diana less perfect’, says Cocktail producer

Today, Diana Penty is the lady every man desires to take home to their mothers. And Dinesh Vijan, the producer of Cocktail, the film by which the supermodel will make her Bollywood debut, couldn’t be happier. “I gave the script to Deepika (Padukone) and asked her to make a choice from the 2 roles. Having already played Meera in Love Aaj Kal (2009) she opted for the challenge of playing the recent and wild Veronica. And with Deepika and Saif (Ali Khan) in, we decided this Cocktail needed a fresh ingredient,” Dinesh says.

Casting directors were asked to scout for fresh faces, but before they may audition anyone, Diana walked in for a gathering. “I was in a hurry to depart town, she was in a rush to head for a photo-session, but at a glance, we felt that despite the very best smile and polished looks, Diana was the shy, girl-next-door Meera. She has that classic Indian take care of. two auditions, both Homi (director Homi Adajania) and that i agreed that she was right for the role, even supposing we needed to de-glam her, make her less perfect and more awkward,” Dinesh admits.

Though Cocktial seems like an Indianised Veronica-Archie-Betty story, Dinesh denies any resemblance. “Apart from the name Veronica, there’s little in common,” he says.

Interestingly, old friends Dinesh and Saif has been business partners for seven years. He admits that he couldn’t bring to mind anyone but Saif for the role of the witty and outspoken Gautam. However, when he took the tale from Imtiaz Ali and commenced developing it, Saif wasn’t part of the project. “Then Saif read the script and decided he wanted in,” says Dinesh. “His humour within the first half and maturity post-interval gives Cocktail a heady twist. If you happen to loved his sardar avatar in Love Aaj Kal, you’ll love this Dilli flirt too.”

Films of action genre are definitely loved probably the most by the audiences, however there's always a transparent and present danger while shooting for them. The newest to fall victim to injury is Sanjay Dutt who was injured while shooting an action sequence for Sher.

Apparently, Dutt was shooting an action sequence with 500 extras, with probably the most characters wielding swords, when a freak incident result in the actor sustaining a deep cut, missing his eye by mere inches. Sanjay was rushed for medical attention, but after he got a couple of stitches he returned to the site and resumed shooting.

Slated for a December 2012 release, Sher relies at the Gujarat underworld with Dutt playing the role in line with Gujarati gangster Sharman Munjha.

Farah's next with SRK to head on floor by year-end!

Farah Khan's much anticipated next film starring Shah Rukh Khan will apparently have five leads. While Boman Irani was finalized for some of the roles, the opposite three heroes are yet to be decided. Apparently, Farah could also be planning to introduce a brand new face on this film.

Both Farah and SRK are extremely interested by this film because it brings them back after delivering two of Bollywood's biggest blockbusters - Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om.

The film may be produced by SRK and can go on floors by the tip of this year.

First trailer: Salman, Katrina in Ek Tha Tiger

The 'injured' Tiger, aka Salman Khan, is sitting next to his senior, who's advising him to not kill anybody this time around. He says, "Tum jis mission pe jaate ho, koi na koi maara jaata hai. Tiger is mission mein tumhe sirf observe karna hai. Please yahan kisi ko maar mat dena." (You kill somebody or the opposite whilst you embark on a mission. Tiger, it's a must to just observe keenly on this mission. Please don't kill anyone)

The attitude of out Agent Tiger is apparent from this opening shot - he's injured, he's angry and he desires to kill.

The fight sequences within the trailer look crisp and refreshing.

And then enters Katrina Kaif like a fresh breath of air. That's how they introduce themselves to every other:

Katrina: Hi, I'm Zoya, friends call me Zee
Salman: I'm Manish, friends call me Doordarshan
Katrina: Bahut kharaab joke tha (That was a nasty joke)

The romance takes off, but there is a twist. Apparently, Salman, the jasoos is wooing Katrina only for his mission. The chemistry between Salman and Katrina is natural. They undoubtedly look good together on screen.

Verdict: We're absolutely in love with this 'ghayal' tiger. What about you?

Ek Tha Tiger will release on August 15 this year.
