Dev Anand's statue to be unveiled in Mumbai

By Hindustan Times

A statue of late Hindi cinema icon Dev Anand may be unveiled on the Bandra Bandstand Promenade here at the actor's first death anniversary Dec 3. The statue might be unveiled as a part of UTV Stars' property Walk of the celebrities here, and it'll join the statues of Raj Kapoor and Shammi
Kapoor.

Remembered as Bollywood's evergreen hero, Dev Anand died of cardiac arrest last year in London. He was 88.

His life-size statue in brass can be unveiled by yesteryear actress Waheeda Rahman, who made her debut opposite Dev Anand within the 1956 film "C.I.D.". Together, they featured in seven movies.

Dev Anand started his career within the black-and-white era with 1946 film "Hum Ek Hain", and spent 65 years as an actor and filmmaker in Bollywood. He left an indelible mark within the minds of movie buffs with classics like "Baazi", "Paying Guest", "Guide", "Jewel Thief" and "Hare Rama Hare Krishna".

The property, comparable to the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, was launched earlier this year with the felicitation of the legendary Kapoor family, by actress Kareena Kapoor and director Madhur Bhandarkar.

The Walk of the celebrities features film celebrities' handprints on customised slabs, and brass statues of iconic actors.

Ram Kapoor may quit Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, makes films his priority

By Hindustan Times

Actors who work in TV dailies usually shoot for 16 to 18 hours an afternoon. Therefore, they don’t have the time to absorb projects across other mediums. Despite the fact that Ram Kapoor is one such actor who have been shuffling TV and movie work for years, the pressure appears to be attending to him now.

The actor has apparently decided to quit his hit show, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (BALH), as his film commitments have left him and not using a time. Ram has played the role of the male lead within the show for approximately a year-and-a-half.

An insider says, “Ram has spoken to Balaji (production house) and the channel (Sony). He told Ekta that he desires to quit as he has received some good film offers. Finding the time for his films and shooting for BALH was becoming very difficult for him.”

While news about Ram desirous to quit BALH had first made headlines in September, the problem was soon resolved. But now, with more film work coming his way, he's finding it hard to regulate his schedule. “Every month, he works at the show for 15 days, after which he dedicates 15 days for his films. And since he's in almost every frame of BALH, it’s even tougher. There were times when the production unit has needed to make do with close-up shots and body doubles, as he didn't have time to shoot,” says a source.

However, the producers are still seeking to convince him to stick. To shop for a while for him, the production house has even introduced a unique shooting track in a maha episode that the channel is currently filming. Within the soon-to-be-aired promo of this episode, Ram’s character might be seen getting shot, while protecting his onscreen wife, Priya (Sakshi Tanwar).

This year, Ram was seen in supporting roles in films like Agent Vinod, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Student Of The Year. His upcoming releases are Love U Mr Kalakaar, a Marathi film called Maaee, Mira Nair’s Midnight’s Children and Yashraj’s Mere Dad Ki Maruti.
