Heroines are insecure: Arjun Rampal

By Hindustan Times

Arjun Rampal clears rumours about his tiff with Madhur Bhandarkar, says Heroine shows the actual film industry.

On rumours of a rift with Madhur Bhandarkar
People have a large number of things to mention. I USED TO BE in Bali on vacation after I got a message from a journalist but I DID NOT reply as I DID NOT need to get involved.

I had a beautiful experience working with Madhur and UTV. I DO KNOW Heroine is Bebo's film; it's called 'Heroine' not 'Hero'. When this film came to me and that i read the script, I DID NOT know if I USED TO BE going to do it. Later, I felt that I WANTED to support this film and join it - not just from the perspective of my character, but in addition as it is a superb subject and it is going to be made.

On heroines
In Heroine, I play a superstar. I've seen what number of of them behave and what they're all about. My character comes from a disturbed marriage, is having an affair, and is concerned about his image and whether it's going to get tarnished. He's worried about how the lead (Kareena) deals with the situations in her life and the way it'll affect him and his career. Madhur has shown many real aspects of the film industry and captured it beautifully, like Mahi's (Kareena's character) insecurity about her career, because most heroines are essentially insecure people.

On big stars doing small roles
Every character is very important and once I sign a film, I GLANCE at it in totality. One person can't make or break a film. Other characters are had to take the tale forward. There are such a lot of films (within the west) where big actors play small parts and that helps the film succeed. That's because all of them intend to make an excellent film.

I believe within the same. I NEED to contribute to good cinema and never get selfish about my role.

On Kareena
The film is ready Mahi's journey. She has a relationship with my character, who's the strongest male role within the film. The film makes a speciality of relationships and love particularly. The opposite relationship she has is with Randeep Hooda who plays a sportsman who enters her life. Later, she meets Shahana Goswami's character while doing an art film.

On playing a superstar
In my character you will see shades of many superstars. You'll have to see the film to determine more!
