Pooja Shetty buys The Zoya Factor rights from SRK

By Hindustan Times

Producer Pooja Shetty, who has thus far been involved with successful films akin to Prakash Jha’s Raajneeti (2010) and Abhishek Sharma’s Tere Bin Laden (2010), insists everything happened “very smoothly and nicely” when she acquired the movie adaptation rights of The Zoya Factor, which till now, were lying untouched with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Productions.

“I had asked Shah Rukh, ‘are you sure you don’t wish to adapt the unconventional? If you wish to make it, I won’t pursue it. If not, I CAN chase for the rights.’ He, in turn, told me, ‘listen, it’s an even book, but we haven’t been in a position to take it up since we're very busy with other work. And i'm unlikely so as to do it since I'M really busy with other things that I'VE already committed to. But when you would like to make it, I WILL BE ABLE TO quickly do whatever paperwork you need,’” she says.

According to Pooja, The Zoya Factor has an excessively sweet story. “And now that we've got the rights, your next step may be developing a screenplay and identifying a director to helm the film, besides taking the casting calls. I WILL BE ABLE TO get right down to engaged on it by mid-June or July. It’s got the entire elements (of a pleasing Bollywood film). Aarti (Aarti Shetty; Pooja’s sister) and that i haven’t been capable of take note of it because of other commitments, but we should always start making it by early next year,” she adds.
