Priyadarshan forays into action with Jackky!

By Hindustan Times

Director Priyadarshan reveals that once rom-com Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal, he'll start work on an action film. It'll have fresh actors, and the one known face to add in it will likely be Jackky Bhagnani.

Giving a sneak preview of this untitled film, Priyadarshan says, “It’s an action film that deals with the issues of today’s youth and the conflict between love and lust. People mistake lust for romance and relationships opt for a toss.” Actor Jackky adds, “I was dumbstruck after I was offered the role by Priyan. I'M happy to work with one of these big director.” Priyadarshan’s yet to finalise the opposite actors for the film that goes at the floors on June 1.

The director could also be working with critically acclaimed cinematographer Santosh Shivan after 16 years at the same film. “We lasted interact in Kala Pani (1996),” says Priyadarshan.

The director who received National Awards for Tamil film Kanchivaram (2008) and was honoured with the Padma Shri award this year, has also directed multi-starrer comedies earlier. He steers away from controversy though, when asked if he makes films for critical acclamation or mass entertainment.

“I make two forms of films, person who most people doesn’t understand but gets me the National Award, and the opposite is the multi-starrer variety that makes money for the producers,” says the director who has made films like Malamaal Weekly (2006), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), De Dana Dan (2009) and Khatta Meetha (2010).
