'Hate Story is India's Basic Instinct'

By Hindustan Times

Bollywood actor Nikhil Dwivedi, who's gearing up for the discharge of his upcoming erotic thriller Hate Story, feels that the movie is India's first Basic Instinct.

Hate Story, produced by Vikram Bhatt and starring Paoli Dam within the lead role and is already making a lot of buzz with its explicit trailer.

Nikhil says it's within the lines of the Hollywood film starring Sharon Stone relating to boldness.

Hate Story"Had I not liked it I'd not was a part of it. The first thing that came to my mind was, oh! it is a Basic Instinct in India. I thought, why not be part of India's first erotic thriller? I'VE tried to not walk the trodden path. And that is an erotic thriller that's have been handled aesthetically," Nikhil told PTI.

Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film also stars Gulshan Devaiah of Shaitan fame. It'll hit the theatres on April 20.

"It (film) has pushed the envelope of depicting erotica or portraying sexuality in Indian films to the limits. I'm still gung-ho in regards to the story and that's something the audience goes to appear forward to. If the tale is sweet they'll like else they might not. But, on the end of the day it's only a film," he said.

Nikhil, who made his Bollywood debut in 2008 with My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves, said he was initially offered the role of co-star Gulshan Devaiah but turned it down as he's too shy to do intimate scenes on-screen.
