Akshay to celebrate Rowdy Rathore anniversary with Boss!

By Hindustan Times

When something starts working for them, expect our Bollywood superstars to be sticking to the winning formula. Akshay Kumar has done exactly that for his upcoming film Boss. He has locked the film's arrival to be next summer and set the discharge date as June 7. Incidentally, this will be exactly a year after Rowdy Rathore which enjoyed a huge response when it released on 1st June this year.

"In the days when release dates have gotten increasingly more precious with every passing year, every superstar worth his salt is raring on blocking a date for him on a yearly basis. While the fight has thus far been centered on festive occasions, there are other important dates available only on premium. Akshay feels that 1st week of June is sweet for an action entertainer of his to release and because the summer time is regarded as to be one of the vital lucrative for Bollywood, he has chosen June 7 for bringing his Boss. This way, the film would also mark 365 days anniversary of Rowdy Rathore", informs a source.

Given the truth that Boss, that is being directed by Anthony D'Souza, has just gone on floors, a deadline being set for other cast members and crew means the film needs to be completed in quick time.

"That's the way in which Akshay works", says an in depth associate, "Since he releases an ordinary of 3 to four films a year, he can't afford to pull his films beyond a definite point. He starts 2013 with Special Chabbis while his big ticket film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 is already confirmed for August 8 release. His Boss needed to arrive in between and what better date than to reach exactly a year after Rowdy Rathore."

Moreover, with Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan starrer Ghanchakkar being the one other confirmed release in June, Akshay's Boss is just about expected to rule like one on its arrival next year.

“When I fought for my life after ‘Coolie’ accident, he came over me in hospital, with a cartoon he had drawn – Yamraj defeated! Yamraj – God of Death, defeated by me… wish I USED TO BE as proficient a cartoonist as he, I MIGHT want to draw that for him,” added Big B.

The 70-year-old says Thackeray has always treated him like family.

“When Jaya and that i married, he (Bal Thackeray) called us to his house… and the rituals that were conducted was of the ‘bahu’ coming home! From that day on he always treated us as family,” he said.

“When the Bofors Scandal accusations on us were at its peak, he called me home and asked ‘tell me the truth, are you involved?’ After I said ‘No!’, he said ‘Then don't worry about anything. I'M with you. You might be an actor, go do what you might be best at’,” he added.

11 The reason why I Totally Love Bollywood

I love Bollywood. With all its ups and all its downs, with all of the movies, good and bad, I REALLY LIKE watching most Hindi movies. Yes, they're corny and cheesy as a rule. Spicy and masaale-daar even. And each other week they have a tendency to insult your intelligence with lame jokes, stories or scenes. But I still love Bollywood movies. They make me smile, give me hope, make me sing and dance and laugh.

why we love bollywood movies 300x135 11 Reasons Why I Totally Love Bollywood

Why We like Bollywood

Why do I dig Bollywood movies? These are my top 11 reasons for loving Bollywood:

Bollywood entertains us

Seriously, that is the number 1 it's because I absolutely love the Hindi film industry. If there’s one common thread that strings together all films which can be released in Bollywood, it's got to be entertainment. Just think where our lives can be if there have been no films. We might never get that weekly dose of entertainment in theaters and on television. 6 out of 10 people prefer watching films for passing time and getting entertained. Ever wondered why films made in Bollywood are double the length of Hollywood feature films? I BELIEVE it’s because there’s hardly another source of mass entertainment available which manages to enthral audiences within the way Bollywood invariably manages to and therefore, they don’t mind putting off three hours simply to watch a movie.

The music

Popular Bollywood music have been around since 1950s and ever since then, the audience for it has increased exponentially. People won't know who the Prime Minister or President of the rustic is but they will, in all probability, know the lyrics of “Aalu Chaat”.

Weddings, parties, radios, gyms, road trips, iPods, mobiles, ring tones, caller tones. Some of these things would probably be really dry and unhappening if Bollywood didn’t get a hold of good music, consistently. Music is the soul of Bollywood. It’s what gives Bollywood that singular uniqueness which perhaps no other film industry has. It’s what makes it Indian.

Bollywood music is likely one of the the explanation why I LIKE Bollywood!

The ‘masala’ films

Like our food, our movies are extremely hot and spicy. Yeah, that’s make one of the most super-spicy ones Tees Maar Khan difficult to digest. Dialogues, music and action sequences – Producers and directors tend to magnify these, cause them to more entertaining and commercially viable jointly. They amplify the sound of a slap or a punch to remarkably high levels. More adventurous film makers make fine actors pull out hand pumps and use them as bats to fight a wild mob!

The women

Even though they're slowly turning clear of beauty into sleazy, item girls, one cannot deny that Bollywood continues to be a bevy of lovely babes. It’s a male dominated industry and feminine centric roles are rare. But everyone knows who the males are dominated by. Sensuous, sexy and super duper hot. Bollywood babes have never been better!

Dialogue-baazi is simply too good

One of my personal favorites. I'M a sucker for Bollywood dialogues. Even if they've toned down in recent years,  the Indian televisions is replete with old films where you get to listen to dramatic comparisons, punch lines and “effects”. In fact, filmy dialogues appear to be coming round again. Blockbuster masala movies reminiscent of Singham and Dabangg had a host of them.

Read more : Top One Liners From Bollywood Films

Action-baazi is super spicy

Bollywood action movies are a category in their own. Every classic action movie follows the centuries old formula of the standard Bollywood villain who's hideously crafted, the damsel in distress, and the macho dialogue spitting action hero. Yet, we be capable to hold directly to our seats whenever a Bollywood action film is released. These Bollywood villains appear to be coming round again. Take a look at Sanjay Dutt’s bone-chilling avatar in Agneepath.

Some of the stunts in our films are beyond deadly. This one from Singham is an apt example:

Salman Khan, who's on a roll with his commercially successful blockbusters reminiscent of Wanted, Dabangg, Ready and Bodyguard, is the present king of Indian masala action movies. Take a look at this scene from Dabangg when Sallu’s shirt starts ripping off under the load of his bulging muscles:

Now, that may be Bollywood in it’s pure glory!

Unabashed cheating

We copy everything in regards to the firangs. We copy their clothes, their fashion, their selection of music (all of us love Hip Hop, Trance, House, Electro and whatnot don’t we?). And we, of course, copy their films. Inside out. Heck, we even rip off their posters once in a while.

zindagi na milegi dobara poster rip off 11 Reasons Why I Totally Love Bollywood

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara poster ripped from Lords of Dogtown

But we always add our own desi ingredients to it.

Take for example, Munnabhai M.B.B.S. It’s clearly a rip off from the 1998 Robin Williams starrer Patch Adams. In Patch Adams, the protagonist is troubled man who voluntarily commits himself right into a mental institution. However, in our version, the crazy creative doctor ain’t some psychotic. He’s an area goonda who’s made his parents believe that he's in truth a reputed doctor running a charitable clinic. When his folks find out, their heart is damaged and abandon him. But he vows to become a health care provider and feature fun on the same time.

The topic of pyaar

We are suckers for romance stories and this shows in all Bollywood movies. Comedy, drama, action, fantasy, romance, thriller. The theme of affection is woven in Bollywood movies across all genres. Out of the previous couple of good movies that experience released in 2011 and now 2012, The Dirty Picture, Ladies V/S Ricky Bahl, Don 2, even Players (it’s good in the event you compare it with strange movies reminiscent of  Lanka, Pappu Can’t Dance Saala, etc) – They all had a robust love angle in them.

I like about Bollywood films – this pyaar ka factor brings in numerous cheesy fantasy and optimism in our lives. It gives us hope that even we can fall in love and live happily ever after.

Extremes in stories and impacts

Bollywood doesn’t always get a hold of masaale-daar films meant to satiate our hunger for entertainment. Filmmakers often get a hold of hard hitting cinema which totally open our eyes. If we have now trashy comedy films equivalent to Housefull and Tees Maar Khan, we also be ready to get a hold of genuine satire reminiscent of Peepli [Live] and Phas Gaye Re Obama.

If Salman Khan can be capable to churn money with an idiotic Ready, Aamir Khan can better him with mindful movies with moral messages similar to 3 Idiots. While we now have a song corresponding to Sheila Ki Jawaani which takes the nation by storm and makes people soak up dancing lessons, we now have a movie corresponding to Rang De Basanti which empowers them to stand up to a cause and fight for justice! If more filmmakers had a conscience which wasn’t ruled merely by money and sex, we'd have a greater country I FEEL. That’s the impact Bollywood films will have on us.

The Bollywood Triumvirate of the Khans

Hollywood has Brad Pitt, Leo Dicaprio and Tom Cruise. And we now have our Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. Funny coincidence or what? There are three leading actors in each film industry and all three was around for the reason that 80s. And they’re still on top in their game. For the entire crap of Bollywood, this sort of Khans invariably comes up with a movie that attracts us right back up. They support charities, dance at marriages, assist in sending socially significant messages and do lots of of items which makes a difference to lots of lives. Isn’t it just (insert powerful adjective here) that we have got em?

Selling dreams and fantasy

In a rustic where millions survive the roads, die of hunger and cold, cannot get 2 square meals a day, how do they still have the capacity to have smiles on their faces?

bollywood dreams 11 Reasons Why I Totally Love Bollywood

Bollywood sells them dreams

I think Bollywood films help these types of unfortunate souls get on with their lives with that priceless smile. After a difficult day’s work, of fights and arguments, of grabbing and pushing through lines and offices, after they get back home, they've something which puts a bright smile on their tired faces. A simple, cheap medicine which transports them to a wholly difference universe, helping them forget all their present worries and problems. Many get drunk and sing and dance to tunes from old Hindi movies. They get a possibility to dream and live in a fantasy – although it’s for 3 hours.

And that’s why I REALLY LIKE Bollywood!

There is something about Bollywood films which Hollywood films just don’t have. Hollywood is colder, more precise, less flexible and adjusting. Bollywood then again is freeform, very hot and inviting to modify (our doors are always open to foreign actors!). When you prod beneath the surface, you recognize that Bollywood films characterize a large number of essential traits of India. It's totally tousled on one hand – noisy, idiotic, senseless, chaotic, sleazy. At the other, it's cheerful, warm, colorful, happy, hopeful.

What do you think that? Why do you love/hate Bollywood? Please share with the film community to your comments below. Oh and for those who liked reading this piece, do share it along with your friends on Facebook. I’d really appreciate it!
