Filmmaker Boney Kapoor’s son, Arjun Kapoor, 26, is touted to be the following big thing in Bollywood. But, the actor, who's hotting up screens within the promo of his debut flick, Yash Raj’s Ishaqzaade, once weighed 140 kgs and needed to lose 68 kilos to make it as an actor. And, it was actor Salman Khan who made him shed all of the flab. Kapoor now weighs a fit 72 kgs.
“Arjun always desired to become a director. Salman Khan kept observing Arjun at the sets of the 2009 hit Wanted, during which he was an assistant producer. Salman strongly felt that he saw an actor in Arjun Kapoor. He sat down with Arjun and said he shouldn’t waste more time learning direction and production, and will work towards becoming an actor,” says a source.
Arjun apparently had no inclination towards becoming an actor, but Salman’s confidence and motivation urged him to take that route. “Salman helped the boy drop a few pounds and discover the actor within him. Then, he personally taught him and guided him. In fact, his diet, his workout and everything was monitored by Khan himself,” adds the source. Arjun lost all of the weight in three years before he started shooting for the film last year.
The spokesperson of the film says, “Arjun considers Salman his mentor.”
