Stars get up for animal rights!

By Hindustan Times

While the film fraternity has always been known to absorb the reason for animal rights, director Nikhil Advani has gone a step ahead along with his 3D animation film, Delhi Safari. The storyline features five animals from Borivali National Park, who meet the Prime Minister in Delhi with a plea to stop
builders from encroaching on their forests. It is going to release on October 19. Actors Akshaye Khanna, Govinda, Suniel Shetty, Boman Irani and Urmila Matondkar have lent their voices to the characters Parrot, Monkey, Papa Leopard, Bear and Mama Leopard respectively.

To propagate the message further, the director plans to collect support for the cause through a pledge. “Starting August 15, at the side of the film’s cast, we will be able to ask students from over 1000 schools to send letters in support of the cause, with the intention to then be sent to the Prime Minster’s office. We will be able to use the web and the social media to succeed in out to as many of us as possible, in order that the petition reaches the PM’s office by Wildlife Week (in October),” Nikhil says.

He also has plans to take this sort of students to fulfill the PM. “It will all rely on whether we get permission for a meeting,” says Nikhil.

Talking in regards to the characters within the film, the director explains, “We aren’t seeking to humanise the animals. So, the talking parrot from South Mumbai (with Akshaye’s voice) is the one person who can consult humans. He even thinks that he's human.”

The World Wildlife Fund and those for the moral Treatment of Animals have watched the film and appreciated it. “They said what we've got been seeking to do for last 50 years have been achieved through this film,” concludes Nikhil.
