The Avengers — 4th top US grosser in India!

Superhero ensemble flick, The Avengers, has become the fourth highest Hollywood grosser of all time in India. The Marvel big screen adaptation has earned over Rs. 46 crore net in its fourth week run to this point. Having released here on April 27, every week before its US release, it's still running in both 2D and 3D in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Overseas, the movie has joined the Billion Dollar Box Office club in precisely 19 days. Tapping its trajectory, international trade pundits predict it's slated to become the third highest grossing movie of all time by the top of its run, with only Avatar and Titanic prior to it.

“The Avengers is a kind of movies that has wowed critics and audiences alike, and within the incredible opening followed up by throngs of repeat audiences, have helped the film break records not only in India but globally,” says Siddharth Roy Kapur of Disney UTV, the distributors of the flick here.

The film stars Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Mark Ruffalo because the Hulk, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
