In the blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger (ETT) earlier this year, Katrina Kaif’s character, playing secret agent Zoya, had an excellent amount of jumping and kicking to do.
The actor decided to accomplish one of the stunts herself, and had earlier told us, “The stunts in ETT were exciting... I had not done something like this before. I NEED TO admit that action is challenging.”
But Katrina is way from done. For her upcoming films, she desires to do all of the stunts herself. “While many Bollywood actors ask for stunt doubles, Katrina has insisted that she is going to do the entire action scenes herself,” a source reveals.
She has no less than three major stunts in her next Yash Raj production, Dhoom:3, including an underwater fight scene. Post that, she starts shooting for the Hindi remake of Knight And Day (KND; 2010), with Hrithik Roshan as her co-star.
“Katrina trained hard for the action sequences in ETT. Now, she is calling to push the envelope and attempt more complex stunts. Besides, KND may have action scenes of Hollywood standard, that is novel for a Bollywood actor,” the source says.
This also means a good little bit of pre-shoot training for Katrina. The actor is presently learning acrobatics for Dhoom:3.
In the unique KND, Cameron Diaz did some of her stunts herself, and apparently used doubles for some. Katrina will, however, train in order that she is in a position to pull off all of the stunts herself. “Stunt co-ordinators are flying down next month to coach her. The action sequences may be managed by a fleet of stunt co-ordinators — Robert Alonzo, David Rowden, Gregg Smrz and Ronn Surels.”
The training will start in December, that is a couple of months before the film goes at the floors.
