Will Kunal be the new Emraan for Bhatts?

By Hindustan Times

He hit popularity charts with multiple Bhatts’ ventures reminiscent of Murder (2004), Gangster (2006), Jannat (2008), Raaz – The Mystery Continues (2009) and Murder 2 (2010). But co-incidentally, while Emraan Hashmi tests new waters—besides Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt’s Vishesh Films—the production home is set to take a position in another ‘asset’, Kunal Khemu, who stars of their upcoming film, Blood Money.

“Kunal has extraordinary talent. But for some reason, he have been held back in managing his film career. But along with his new determination and Blood Money, he’s made a fresh beginning. And we’re committed to giving him the mandatory vehicle that may help bring his talent to full bloom,” says Bhatt senior.

At the similar time though, Bhatt maintains that they “already have a celebrity in Emraan, who’s going from strength to strength.” He adds: “However, we'd not be leaning only on Emraan because our company doesn’t believe in depending only on one star. So, I MIGHT give my complete and unrelenting support to Kunal in his future films.”

The Zakhm director, on the same time, adds that Emraan will not be in a position to give Vishesh Films the desired choice of dates. “And if we need to look ahead to Emraan, why not look forward to any other star? Whether it’s an in-house person or an outdoor star, we need to work on our own rhythm,” says Bhatt, adding that he hasn’t “cut off” from Emraan.

“Emraan is already doing Raaz 3 with us (this year) and can do another film by the tip of the year. He's going beyond our company to explore other directors and production houses. It’s good for both, him and us. I’m not a stupidly possessive uncle who would wish to maintain him tied to my production house. Emraan is an important asset but we need to create more assets, and Kunal is an actor we wish to invest in,” he says.
