Shah Rukh acted in girls' college, before Bollywood happened

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who desired to be a sportsperson and whose plan was spoilt by a back injury, started his tryst with theatre with a play at a women's college. Shah Rukh, who was a student at Delhi University's prestigious Hans Raj College, first performed on the Lady Shriram College.

Narrating his journey to becoming an actor, the 47-year-old said: "I ASSUMED I'D be a sportsman but I injured myself. I USED TO BE under observation for seven to 8 days and bedridden for a month and a half. I had hurt my back and that i felt very bad. For 6 to 8 months, I USED TO BE extremely depressed. I BEGAN going back to my school."

"My mom said 'Try and do something within the evening to fill your space'. I BEGAN doing this play called 'Annie Get Your Gun' at Lady Shriram College - one of the crucial attractions being that it was a girl's college and that i was one of the vital few guys who was chosen to behave there - eight boys and 80 girls."

Shah Rukh narrated the tale on BIG CBS PRIME's "India's Prime Icon". The episodes featuring King Khan may be on air Friday and Saturday.
