Son Of Sardaar which released on Diwali (November 13) have been doing well on the Box Office. However, the discharge was preceded by an extended drawn out battle for screen space with the opposite Diwali release Jab Tak Hai Jaan. "It was very stressful. No person wants a problem. It just offers you sleepless nights. What needed to be done needed to be done. I've said before that even supposing the theatres are less, however the audience shouldn't be less," says Ajay concerning the fiasco that broke across the petition that his company had filed against YRF.
It was being said that as a mark of respect for Mr. Yash Chopra, Ajay should move the discharge of his film. "Some people did say that. Like everybody else my respect for Yashji isn't any less. It's business, I CAN'T kill myself. I had given the industry an option, I'M willing to try this but its business, you give me space. Let everybody go ahead by two weeks. If the entire industry shifts by two weeks, I'M able to shift. Everybody backed out, so what does that say?"questions Ajay. When asked Ajay if filing the case helped him in anyway, he replied, "AFTER WE filed the case, we were 1000 screens less. It was due to the case that the pressure came at the other party and we got no less than 400-500 screens more."
As for why Kajol was absent on the premiere of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Ajay says, "Kajol was not invited for the premiere of Jab Tak Hai Jaan which I THINK could be very petty. This shows the pettiness of somebody else."
And here is a biggie. Is Ajay open to doing a movie with Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan? "I'm okay with everything so long as there's a film where the script is liked by all three people and all three people have substantial roles that we wish to do within the film, then why not," Ajay said.
