“After Guide, he was in talks with Shirley MacLaine and he desired to make MM Kaye’s Far Pavilions in India
with her. But he told me it was not understanding. He was always waiting for make international films and do co-productions, that is a commong thing now. He was way sooner than his time,” says the 76-year-old, who worked with him in C.I.D. The two were known for his or her great working relationship and Rehman will unveil the legendary actor’s statue on the UTV Stars Walk of the celebs on December 4 to mark his first death anniversary. “He was a charmer. He was always vigorous. We never had any problems and that i only have fond memories with him... I called him Dev Saab once I met him for the primary time, but he said, ‘you’ll only call me Dev’. Although my senior, he was very co-operative and helpful,” she says.

But there has been once that he did disappoint her. “I was upset with him when he didn't invite me when he went to America to advertise the English version of Guide,” says Rehman, who also reveals: “Dev was an overly quiet and shy person. He never used to wait any parties... Despite all his fame and money, he stuck to his Fiat car for an excessively long time, and used to drive it himself.”
