Ram Kapoor may quit Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, makes films his priority

By Hindustan Times

Actors who work in TV dailies usually shoot for 16 to 18 hours an afternoon. Therefore, they don’t have the time to absorb projects across other mediums. Despite the fact that Ram Kapoor is one such actor who have been shuffling TV and movie work for years, the pressure appears to be attending to him now.

The actor has apparently decided to quit his hit show, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (BALH), as his film commitments have left him and not using a time. Ram has played the role of the male lead within the show for approximately a year-and-a-half.

An insider says, “Ram has spoken to Balaji (production house) and the channel (Sony). He told Ekta that he desires to quit as he has received some good film offers. Finding the time for his films and shooting for BALH was becoming very difficult for him.”

While news about Ram desirous to quit BALH had first made headlines in September, the problem was soon resolved. But now, with more film work coming his way, he's finding it hard to regulate his schedule. “Every month, he works at the show for 15 days, after which he dedicates 15 days for his films. And since he's in almost every frame of BALH, it’s even tougher. There were times when the production unit has needed to make do with close-up shots and body doubles, as he didn't have time to shoot,” says a source.

However, the producers are still seeking to convince him to stick. To shop for a while for him, the production house has even introduced a unique shooting track in a maha episode that the channel is currently filming. Within the soon-to-be-aired promo of this episode, Ram’s character might be seen getting shot, while protecting his onscreen wife, Priya (Sakshi Tanwar).

This year, Ram was seen in supporting roles in films like Agent Vinod, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Student Of The Year. His upcoming releases are Love U Mr Kalakaar, a Marathi film called Maaee, Mira Nair’s Midnight’s Children and Yashraj’s Mere Dad Ki Maruti.

I'VE finally found a script to direct: Aamir Khan

By Hindustan Times

Actor Aamir Khan who donned the director’s hat with Taare Zameen Par in 2007 is ready to direct again. On a trip to HT house on Tuesday, the filmmaker said that he has locked the script for his next directorial venture.

“There is Dhoom 3 that is coming up, which I’m hoping might be liked by kids. But so far as directing a kids movie is concerned, there's a script that I’ve found a couple of 13-year-old brother and 10-year-old sister,” he said, adding, “I’ve bought the rights (of the script) and I’m going to direct it. But I don’t know when because I’m very busy as an actor, as of now.”

The actor, whose film Talaash releases on Friday, says that he picked the film because he found it intriguing. “I loved the script. It has an ideal emotional aspect and isn't only a suspense drama. It deals with coming to terms with the lack of a loved one,” he said. While the actor calls both his co-stars within the film Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor fantastic, he's particularly flattered by Rani’s recent remark that while shooting Ghulam with him, she never looked into his eyes as she feared falling in love with him. “Pehle kyun nahi bataya? ab to film poori ho gayi..chance miss ho gaya..ab ek aur film karni padegi,” he laughed, adding, “It’s good to fall in love. I BELIEVE Rani has absolutely mesmerizing eyes. She is considered one of my closest friends within the industry for a few years now.”

Given that Aamir has always used novel how one can promote his films, (this time around he promoted the film mostly at night), we asked how important is it to advertise a movie well. “All films need promotions. For me promoting a movie is an overly integral means of filmmaking. You can't separate it from the method. Each film is exclusive and needs to be treated differently. ”

And he's also hoping that his son with Kiran Rao, Azad, who turns one soon, will bring luck for the film. “The film releases across the time of his birthday. We're having a family social gathering for the occasion, I AM HOPING he brings luck to the film,” he said.

I DIDN'T expect this, says Gangnam Style singer PSY

By Hindustan Times

He’s taken the sector by storm with Gangnam Style, a number, which has become a Korean pop sensation like non other. The music video of this song was viewed by nearly 1000000000 people on YouTube and from US flashmobs to jail inmates within the Philippines, right directly to pop diva Britney Spears has shaken their booty to his moves.

He’s also entered the Guinness Book of global Records title for essentially the most liked You Tube video ever and has spent greater than 10 weeks at the U.S. Billboard 100. Now, within the first ever interview to be published in India, the 34-year-old Korean singer-songwrite Park Jae-sang, or PSY as he's popular called, speaks about this bewitching dance style, life after international stardom and more. The interview is a part of a show that was aired on CNN.

Q: What was to your mind whilst you made Gangnam Style? Did you perceive that it will go this big?
Psy: I didn’t expect this type of thing. I made this song - I made this music video and dance moves only for Korea, not worldwide.

Q: Gangam is just like the Beverly Hills of Seoul, right?
Psy: Yes, so I, you know, described the district...that’s my perspective. And that i described the district as like normal and calm on the
daytimes and going insane at the nighttime. So I compare all of the sexy ladies to the district. That’s what the lyrics is about.

Q: What did you're thinking that of the overnight success?
Psy: It was, like, really touching, you already know? And Gangnam Style is mostly a casual song. It’s not touching or moving song. I’m the author and that i didn’t make this song in that purpose. However the thing is, with the best way they're doing, it’s like, ‘Wow’.

Q: People don’t realise that Gangnam Style is a song to your sixth album.
Psy:Yes. Well so, to the world, this was my debut. But in Korea, it was mandatory success for sixth time. So it was like highly pressured. Especially with the dance moves. So this was my first dance moves to the world, but this was like my sixth dance move. And my previous ones got — every dance move was so hit. (But) Not all over the world. That implies I'VE five more steps.

Q: Let us know concerning the horse dance.
Psy: It was the sort of big pressure with the dance moves, so after (the) song’s done, me and my Korean choreographers like, we spend like greater than 30 nights. We got to take a look at everything we see. Literally everything.

Q: And what was it about this one who you're thinking that stuck?
Psy: This horse dance was originally — I don’t find out about other countries, but in Korea, it was really huge on the ‘80s. One day, I ASSUMED about it and my choreographer’s like — he’s like three years older than me and he knew concerning the dance. So, hey, why don’t we strive some, classic ones like, they say, “OK, such as?” And like, “Horse? Horse dance? Horse dance? What's horse dance?” It’s like wow.

Q: It does look easy.
Psy: And that i just like the part. Because, when people see it and if it looks like, ‘Oh, I CAN'T do that’. Then they’re not likely to do it, right? But when people see it and, ‘Ah ha, I WILL BE ABLE TO do it’. And they're trying. And if individuals are trying, that implies viral.

Q: They’ve tried one thousand million times.
Psy: That’s what I’m saying. So, I just saw like 20,000 people flash mob in Italy. I saw the video footage on the YouTube. They usually were doing every move. They usually were saying every Korean word. So, after I do performing, I BELIEVE roughly sorry to the audience...they don’t have any idea what I’m talking about...but they're so happy.

What is Gangnam Style: A Korean pop number that was within the US Billboard 100 for 10 weeks and entered the Guinness Book of global Records title for essentially the most liked You Tube video

Psy-choanalysis
Korean singer opens up about what led him to where he's today

Q: Are you prepared to overcome one thousand million views on YouTube along with your next one?
Psy: I AM NOT going to overcome that and that i cannot beat that. For example, Justin Bieber — he got his debut song, Baby, 700 million. And he cannot beat it. You know, music video got greater than half one billion view. But literally not half 1000000000 people recognise me, yet.

Q: Teaching Britney Spears methods to do the pony dance at the Ellen DeGeneres show, what was that like?
Psy: So, that was probably the most nervous moment in my life. Often because. that was my first national TV appearance. Within the U.s.. And so, everything was so first time. First time meeting Britney, first time meeting Ellen, first time being on national TV. And Britney doesn't know I USED TO BE coming there, so I got to be hiding far and wide. So it was like — when screen opens, I popped out. That was the scenario. And right behind the screen — wow, a lot more nervous than once I debuted, you know?

Q: Tell somewhat about your love for music. And when did that start? Did that start early on on your life?
Psy: Basically, once I was a kid, one in every of my dream was like being a comedian. Talk show host or something like that. And after I was like 14, 15 years old, in Korea, there has been some program that introduce like pop songs, pop videos. And in that program, I saw — I saw Queen. Yes, Queen’s concert in Wembley Stadium. And they're singing Bohemian Rhapsody. After I saw the footage, I USED TO BE like literally, you know, gone.

Q: At what age, then, did you begin writing music and enthusiastic about lyrics?
Psy: Until freshman of college, I didn’t consider being a musician. So I just convinced them that I NEED to review within the bigger world. In order that I WILL be a larger businessman. Please, I WOULD LIKE to review abroad. So he allowed me and that i entered Boston University on the time. And once I AM GETTING to BU, I quit it and with the tuition, I hang around a bit...feel the ambience of Usa. That’s why I WILL speak English.

Q: Ultimately, you ended up on the Berkley College of Music.
Psy: Yes, so I DISCOVERED the Berkley College of Music and, in that period — that was the year of 1996-1997, and it was all about hip-hop on the time within the Usa. Like I got influenced by all that sort of hip-hop music.

Saif was offered Talaash, reveals Kareena

By Hindustan Times

Newly-wed actor Kareena Kapoor, whose film Talaash, with Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherji releases next week, has revealed that her husband Saif Ali Khan was also offered Talaash.

“Not many know, but Saif too was offered Talaash. Reema (Kagti, director) wanted him within the movie, but his dates didn’t determine. He's really excited that i'm a part of it,” she says.

About working with Aamir after an opening of 3 years, Kareena says, “He is a brilliant co-star and an ideal team player. He makes sure his films prove well. If I could, I'D work in all his films.”

On why Aamir, who goes out of his solution to promote his films, has kept an unusually low profile with Talaash, she says, “It’s the primary suspense film of its kind and possibly that’s why Aamir has not done much to advertise it.”

Ask her if she and Saif can be sharing screen space anytime soon and he or she laughs, “No, I’m leaving him for the entire lovely leading ladies. He's allowed to romance them on screen.”

Priyanka Chopra to choose from Krrish 3 and Zanjeer

By Hindustan Times

So who in Bollywood gets to secure Priyanka Chopra's newly-discovered stardom as a singer? Sources insist that she's being earnestly wooed to croon for both her underproduction films Krrish 3 and Zanjeer.

"But Priyanka can only sing in a single of those films. She told us she doesn't wish to sing in too many films. She desires to lend her voice sparingly in films. She has told us she could be singing in precisely probably the most two of her films which can be at the floors," said someone with regards to some of the two underproduction projects.

At the moment, the singer in Priyanka is being seduced by both the projects. Apparently, Rakesh and Hrithik Roshan with whom she shares a long-standing bonding over the Krrish franchise, have personally asked Priyanka to lend her voice to their film.

On the opposite hand, Zanjeer's leading man Ramcharan who's now Priyanka's pal has also installed his request for Priyanka's voice. In fact, the Zanjeer makers are very keen to hit the market speedily to profit from Priyanka's new international image of the actress-singer.

The film is now being readied for an early May 2013 release, much sooner than Krrish 3. Although the latter began shooting so much earlier, it releases much later in Diwali 2013.

Says a source, "The Zanjeer team may be very keen to have Priyanka sing within the film. However there are two hurdles. One is Priyanka's proximity to the Roshans which can prompt her to sing for Krrish 3 rather than Zanjeer. Also, she is under contract to not sing for any film until her international album is released. The Zanjeer team is hoping to be the early bird and catch her voice just in time for the film's release. But for that they might must get past Priyanka's emotional and moral commitment to singing for the Roshans. Because there is no way Priyanka would sing for both Krrish 3 and Zanjeer."

Priyanka Chopra's career as a world singer has taken off with the one In My City which one hears is music to global ears. Bollywood's me-too brigade, not desirous to be left behind in anything that wows the West, has embraced her singing acumen. Suddenly there's a demand for her vocals in Bollywood.

So, who'll bag Priyanka's vocals? Only time and PC will tell!

Bhatts pay up for Jannat 2

By Hindustan Times

Writer Kapil Chopra, who dragged the Bhatts to court a couple of months ago for allegedly stealing his script, has finally got his due. The author had claimed that the tale of Jannat 2 was very similar to a script he had written a year ago. He demanded that the makers not just pay him Rs. 10 lakh, but also
credit him because the film’s writer.

In the various court hearings that followed, the Bhatts defended their stand and insisted that the film’s script was an original piece of writing. However, it sort of feels they couldn’t prove their case. A source just about the makers claims that the Bhatts have paid Kapil twice the volume he had initially asked for: “They have finally paid him Rs. 20 lakh and attributed him because the writer of the film.”

Since the court case has just been resolved and Jannat 2 was released on May 4, Kapil couldn't accept credit within the theatrical screenings. His name couldn't be added to the DVDs either, as they hit the market three weeks after the discharge. However, within the TV premiere that happened last Sunday, he was duly credited. The court had prohibited the Bhatts from airing the film on TV or making it available on the net before the problem was settled.

When contacted, Kapil says, “After an extended battle for my right, I'M relieved. Many fellow film writers have appreciated my efforts.”

Priyanka will always be as regards to my heart: SRK

By Hindustan Times

Those who felt that actor Shah Rukh didn’t support Priyanka Chopra when she was cornered by sections of Bollywood following their alleged affair, can take heart. At a up to date event SRK not just defended Priyanka but admitted that she was treated unfairly. The actor was chatting with CNN IBN
recently when he said, "(I BELIEVE) extremely sorry, for she (Priyanka) wasn’t shown the dignity I show her, or other women. Priyanka Chopra is likely one of the closest friends that I have, she may be very just about my heart, and always will be."

A fan of Priyanka who was present on the meet cut a CD of the interview and sent it to Priyanka, who's currently busy shooting for Zanjeer in Hyderabad.

"She was touched by the fan’s gesture," said a source with regards to her.

While saying that Priyanka was not shown respect, SRK will have been regarding a tweet by his friend, filmmaker Karan Johar, wherein he had taken on Priyanka following an article, that quoted an anonymous friend of Priyanka’s saying that if women are insecure about their relationships with their husbands, they need to sort it out with them.

The article also mentioned a formidable producer-director who was being unkind to PeeCee behind her back. "Using their hired PR machinery and hiding behind so called 'friends' to get news into tabloids is nothing but spineless and lame!!!" Karan had tweeted.

However, later the 2 sorted their differences amicably.

Kareena's Fevicol song challenges Katrina's Chameli!

By Hindustan Times

Call it coincidental however the race for being the Numero Uno superstar heroine in Bollywood is seeing a fitting culmination for itself with an item number no less. It began with Katrina Kaif's 'Chikni Chameli' jig for Agneepath which was officially the primary item collection of the year. Now as 2012 involves a close, it's Kareena Kapoor's 'Fevicol' from Dabangg 2 which might be tagged as Bollywood's concluding item selection of the year.

"Incidentally neither Katrina nor Kareena are the leading ladies within the respective films. Katrina did it because you don't say no when Karan Johar will provide you with a song in a Hrithik Roshan starrer. At the other hand, Kareena could be very friendly with Salman Khan and it was a for the reason that when he would call, she can be present", says a source.

Now it needs to be seen if 'Fevicol' trounces 'Chikni Chameli' because the primary item choice of the year.

"'Chikni Chameli' was an instant hit on its release and will be heard even till date. There has been a novelty factor to it since Katrina had never gone as so 'desi' before. That very factor coupled with the truth that the tune on its own was so catchy and dance steps bordering on erotic that made 'Chikni Chameli' so hugely popular", adds an observer.

On the opposite hand, Kareena Kapoor is rather seasoned herself with regards to item numbers. Though this year her 'Halkat Jawani' didn't quite cover much of a distance, her 'Chammak Challo' act from last year is remembered till date.

"'Fevicol' could well fill in for Kareena's loss of a chartbuster song this year", says a source attached to Dabangg 2, "Let's not forget that the song is choreographed by Farah Khan. Moreover, Kareena is filling within the slot that was earlier occupied by Malaika Arora Khan's 'Munni Badnaam' in Dabangg. She has given all of it to the song and it might be unveiled quite as regards to the film's release because it is so special."

Rest assured, as opposed to audiences even Katrina can be keenly waiting to catch Kareena's moves.

After Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn's the following Rs. 100-crore actor

By Hindustan Times

Salman Khan’s last five releases — Wanted (2009), Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard (2011), Ready (2011) and Ek Tha Tiger — have all crossed the Rs. 100 cr mark on the box-office, making him the champion of the much-coveted club. But steady competition is coming his way. Closing in on Salman is now Ajay Devgn.

Ajay’s last four films — Golmaal 3 (2010), Singham (2011), Bol Bachchan and the recently-released Son Of Sardaar (SOS) — have all surpassed the Rs100 cr mark on the box-office to boot. If trade and industry sources are to be believed, Ajay is fast becoming probably the most sought-after actor in Bollywood.

An informer says, “The film may be doing well in regions the makers didn’t expect it to accomplish in. Late director Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan had released in 500 screens greater than what SOS launched with initially. This is the reason it took the film a while to hit the mark, otherwise going by the present response, it might have happened much earlier. He's an unexpected entrant into the Rs. 100 cr club.”

Having released this Diwali, there has been numerous buzz about how SOS would fare because it was up against the Shah Rukh Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer. But interestingly, it went ahead and hit the R100 cr mark on the box-office faster than every other film starring Ajay has, within the past.

Producer of SOS, NR Pachisia says, “In a 16-day period, SOS has also crossed the lifetime regional collections of all of Ajay’s films. This provides us an entire new reason to celebrate. We’re pleased with the response.”

Salman Khan's back-to-back hit list
Wanted (2009)
Dabangg (2010)
Bodyguard (2011)
Ready (2011)
Ek Tha Tiger (2012)

Low-key publicity for Talaash was deliberate: Reema Kagti

By Hindustan Times

Aamir Khan is understood for extensive and innovative marketing of his films but his forthcoming movie Talaash, releasing on Friday, was being under-promoted until last week. Director Reema Kagti says it was deliberate. "WE'RE sandwiched between Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardaar on one Friday and Khiladi 786 at the next Friday. Most of these three are big extravagantly-hyped films. We had two choices - either we made ourselves heard louder than these biggies, which was impossible; or we spoke in a miles quieter tone than our competition. We've chosen the latter option," said Kagti.

"Also because we cannot speak an excessive amount of concerning the film without giving freely the suspense," she added.

Meanwhile, the filmmakers are preparing for one more fight.

The sms rogues try to present away the suspense in Talaash. A few of the messages being sent out, one claims that Aamir, who plays a police officer, could also be the murderer within the movie.

However, spoilers on sms and the web purporting to present away the suspense in Talaash, don't seem to be affecting the director.

"I'd get seriously worried if any of those spoilers were anywhere near the reality. But they're way off the mark. So I'M REALLY NOT really bothered," she said.

Talaash also features Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor.

Oo la la… Bappi da, the superhit at 60!

By Hindustan Times

On November 27 Bappi Lahiri turns 60. That is also his 40th year within the film industry as singer-composer-producer and now actor. On December 2, in New York’s Millenium Theater, he's going to be presented with the ‘Legend’ Award for ongoing contributions and influences within the recording field on the 5th
Annual Ny Music Awards. The hat-trick requires a triple celebration, but all’s quiet on the Lahiri house because, in memory of Balasaheb Thackeray, he has pushed it ahead to January 2013. “In 1992, Balasaheb came home on my birthday. How am i able to celebrate within a fortnight of his demise?” he asks.

The music award is his birthday gift. It makes a distinct mention of his scores for Chalte Chalte (1976), Disco Dancer (1982), Namak Halal (1982) and Sharaabi (1984) and an excited Bappida is already singing ‘Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy aaja aaja.’ The British-Sri Lankan alternative musician M.I.A. had re-recorded it as ‘Jimmy’ for her 2007 album Kala. The Russian techno group Ruki Vverh’s came up with a canopy version too, as did Tibetan artiste Kelsang Metok. In 1996, during his India tour, Michael Jackson had told Bappida he loved both ‘Jimmy’ and ‘I am a disco dancer’ and in 2008, the Adam Sandler film, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, had used the interlude music, along with his name within the credits.

Jimmy Jimmy country!
“Recently, in Kazakhstan, my musicians were told, ‘Oh, you're from ‘Jimmy Jimmy’ country,” chuckles Bappida, declaring that not just ‘Jimmy Jimmy’ but in addition ‘I am a disco dancer…’, ‘Goron ki na kaalon ki’ and ‘Yaad aa raha hai’ were equally popular, particularly in former Soviet Union states like Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

India’s Golden Man recalls how his uncle, Kishore Kumar was alleged to dub ‘Yaad aa raha hai’ on coming back from London.
“But when he heard the scratch I’d recorded, he insisted we retain my voice. Director B Subhash wanted me to sing ‘Disco Dancer’ too, but I introduced Vijay Benedict and only sang it for Golmaal 3 (2010),” he says.

Songs at the disc… disco!
Bappida got disco music to India, using disco beats in ‘Mausam hai gaane ka’ from Mithun Chakraborty’s Bond thriller, Surakshaa (1979). He’d first heard the term from a DJ at a Chicago club to explain the long-playing records playing at the disc all night.

Interestingly, the King of Disco also composed the desi ‘Pag ghungroo’. “Namak Halaal was a large film and this 12 minute song on Amitabh Bachchan had Kishore mama astounded over its length. We recorded it over four days at Mehboob Studio with a 100-piece orchestra,” he reminisces.

Sapna come true!
Live recordings were re-introduced by Sajid Khan for his Himmatwala remake that willl be unveiled in 2013. Bappida compliments Sajid-Wajid and Mika Singh for the brand new version of ‘Taki taki’ and shares his memories of the 1983 Jeetendra-Sridevi blockbuster. “For ‘Nainon mein sapna’ I got 40 percussionists to play everything from the tabla to ghungroo tarang. Ravi Gurtu even played the matka live. When Latadidi (Mangeshkar) saw the entire rhythm players of Mumbai at Mehboob studio her reaction, was, ‘Bappi what have you ever done?’”

Encore!
Last year, Bappida returned with a bang with ‘Oo la la…’ the Vishal-Shekhar version of his Mawwali chartbuster, ‘Ooi amma’ for The Dirty Picture (2011).

“From Thailand and Vietnam to South Africa and the US, everywhere, people from six to 60, everyone dances to its tune. I’ve needed to sing it at least 3 times at every show,” he beams.

Every show ends with the ‘Chalte chalte’ track penned by Amit Khanna that Bappida had set to tune at Dev Anand’s Navketan Studio. “Since we didn’t have a tape recorder, I asked my mother Bansari who was also a musician-singer to bear in mind the tune for me. When Bhisham Kohli dropped by at my Khar Danda house and told me he wanted some songs for his film Chalte Chalte (1976), I presented him with this song, substituting the primary two words ‘Aye dost’ together with his film’s title.”

‘Chalte Chalte mere yeh geet yaad rakhna kabhi alvida na kehna,’ so true for Bappida who even at 60 remains to be a chartbusting Royal Bengal Tiger!

Vidya may be very particular about what she desires to wear and the way she wants the entire ceremony to happen. She is personally instructing everyone engaged on the wedding,” adds the source.

Apparently, the soon-to-be married couple has also decided to keep up an exclusive guest list for his or her wedding. Rumour has it that not too many huge names from the industry may be seen making appearances. The source adds, “Vidya is a family-oriented person, that is also why she has decided to host a quiet reception in Chennai.”
