Nargis desires to become the desi Oprah!

By Hindustan Times

Despite a dream debut with big and highly coveted Bollywood personalities like Ranbir Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali within the successful Rockstar, Nargis Fakhri hasn't gained much- beither relating to film offers or praise for her acting. Not many producers has been forthcoming to provide Nargis Fakhri a job of their ventures. The film that worked wonders for the lead actor, did precious little for the leading lady's career.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the 3 film-deal that Nargis had reportedly signed with Akshay Kumar's production house Hari Om Productions even before her first film released, seems to has been called off besides. Rather the primary film of the deal, Khiladi 786, has Asin because the leading lady, rather than Nargis Fakhri.

Though a pal of the actress insists that Nargis has two film offers she can't speak about right now, Mumbai Mirror has reported that the one-film-wonder already has an alternative choice within the pipeline ready.

As reported by Mumbai Mirror, if sources are to be believed, Nargis desires to venture into television.

And she doesn't have any plans to be the stereotypical sari-clad bahu of the small screen.

Nargis desires to take the high road and host a chat show.

Her intentions are noble, and he or she desires to help others through her imaginary talk show. When asked whether it is true, she simply told Mumbai Mirror, "I WOULD LIKE to assist people, be of a few service, you realize. Maybe become like Oprah (Winfrey)someday."

Though some might imagine that television is her backup plan, Imtiaz Ali still swears by her talent.

However, sources from the industry feel that other filmmakers have did not warm as much as the united states based model.

And the explanations they say, may well be varied.

Mumbai Mirror reports that consistent with sources, excluding the criticism she received for her performance in Rockstar, the truth that she relies within the US can have worked against her film career.

Perhaps if she gets a chance at the small screen, she's going to fare better. Only time will tell.

Akshay's Krishna competes with Sonakshi's Govinda!

By Hindustan Times

It is not just Sonakshi Sinha who could be seen gyrating to the tune of a distinct song-n-dance track Go Go Govinda' for OMG - Oh My God! Now Akshay Kumar has joined the fray besides. He would soon have a song to his credit besides which might show the cool side of contemporary day 'bhagwaan'.

"The song is named 'Don't Worry' and is being picturised on Akshay Kumar. He plays a suited-booted God within the film who's quite cool, modern and speaks today's language. That is the type of persona that was incorporated in Akshay's act for the song as well", informs our source.

What makes the song further special is the truth that it has words like 'Ram' and 'Krishna' included within the lyrics that reminds considered one of 'Hare Krishna Hare Ram' from Bhool Bhulaiyaa.

"That song was an enormous chartbuster and though Akshay wasn't playing God there, the experiment was considered one of its kinds. He hadn't experimented with the sort of blend of a devotional outing in a club/hip-hop setting but felt that OMG - Oh My God!s had place for one such song. Once the requirement was explained to composer Himesh Reshammiya and lyricist Subrat Sinha, they came up with a tune that was instantly accepted", the source continues.

Now 'Don't Worry' is being pitched as a big promotional feature for OMG - Oh My God! which otherwise was dependent entirely upon Sonakshi for her 'Govinda' act. Though it'd be unfair to name this a clash of item numbers, the truth still remains that stage was set for a devotional battle between Gods Govinda and Ram/Krishna, courtesy Sonakshi and Akshay.

Sex only with hubby: Sunny Leone

By Hindustan Times

And she, who reiterates her ordinariness with “relax, I’m human,” admits that doing Bigg Boss was a perfect thing to have happened to her, even supposing she never saw herself doing anything in India.“Doing that show was the most productive decision, ever! And that i never in 1,000,000 years thought that I'D be in a Bollywood movie!”

The explanation for the initial reservations isn't a surprise. “I thought India had a very conservative culture. I told Daniel, ‘The public’s going to hate me. The fans are ... well, there aren’t going to be any fans there!’ Where I lived, I didn’t need to take into accounts people not accepting who I USED TO BE — everybody already did!”

Now, kids and youths in Bigg Boss?

By Hindustan Times

The drama gets bigger; the ages, small. The impending season six of reality show Bigg Boss is probably going to look children and youths be a part of the bickering in the home. The reports have sparked a debate on if it is ok to involve children in a show that may be high on glamour, theatrics and politics, and requires confinement for months in a home with strangers. Ex-inmates say it’s a nasty idea.

“I don’t think it’s a good suggestion in any respect. The aim of the show is to place the housemates under such extreme physical, mental, emotional stress that they crumble, thus providing drama and content. I don’t think it’s correct to place a kid through this,” says actor Ashmit Patel, who was an inmate in season 4. Afghan beauty Vida Samadzai, an inmate within the show’s fifth season, says, “I wouldn’t want fragile teens or innocent children to join this war zone.”

Psychiatrists don’t give it the fairway signal either. “I wouldn't recommend children to join this type of show. Confinement of any kind adversely affects a child’s intellectual pursuits. And that i think the channel cannot attempt to encash the vulnerability of youngsters for TRPs,” says Dr Jitendra Nagpal. “Kids are impressionable, and it’s not a good suggestion to show them to such a lot stress,” says Dr Deepak Raheja.

However, some feel that if handled correctly, it should just be good exposure for the youngsters. “Children should be nurtured and loved, so if Bigg Boss promises lots of love and emotional protection to children, then it might be interesting to be told from them,” says singer Raageshwari Loomba, who was part of the fifth season. The host channel, however, refuses to comment. “It is just too early to speak about it,” says a spokesperson for Colors.

SRK revives Pahalgam's romance with B-town!

By Hindustan Times

A favourite haunt of the Bollywood since 70's, Kashmir's picturesque hill station Pahalgam on Monday saw actor Shahrukh Khan shooting his first ever movie within the valley and bringing back the destination, with an overly few movies shot since turbulent years of 1990s, at the film industry's map.

King Khan reached Srinagar from Ladakh within the morning and took a chopper ride as much as the mountains of Pahalgam, 100 south of Srinagar. Wearing black dress and armed forces boots, Khan shot all day at Aru in upper reaches of Pahalgam.

"Dark clouds, wet roads, too early for even life to feel alive…but I'M on my method to make movies. A cigarette and occasional as co-travelers," wrote Khan, at the micro-blogging website Twitter, as he reached Pahalgam within the morning.

Khan's presence in Pahalgam revived memories of 70s when Rajesh Khanna's blockbuster movie 'Roti' put a spotlight, for the primary time, at the destination --- famous for its fast-flowing river Lidder and skyline delineated with huge mountain ranges dotted with pine trees.

'Roti' was followed by Rishi Kapoor-Dimple Kapadia starrer blockbuster Bobby. The hut where the famous song 'Aur chabhi kho jaya' was shot remains to be famous as Bobby Hut, serving the state governor and the manager minister these days.

Another Bollywood milestone of Pahalgam remains Betaab Valley, the small green meadow where Sunny Deol-starrer 'Betaab' was shot. Vidhu Vinod Chopra's entire film Khamoshi was shot in a Pahalgam hotel.

More than a dozen Bollywood movies were shot on the tourist destination as much as 1990, when militancy started in Kashmir. For 2 decades, Bollywood remained dream for Pahalgam till film director Imtiyaz Ali's 'Rockstar' was shot in February last year. Since then the locales of Pahalgam has seen a beeline of Bollywood shootings, with Khan's visit coming as an icing at the cake.

"Shahrukh Khan's visit is a superb omen. (Director) Yash Chopra is a pal and that i persuaded him to restore his 70-mm romantic relations with the place," said Nazir Bakshi, a businessman, hosting the stars.

The tourism sector, which expects to host two- million visitors this year after a dip within the militant violence, sees Khan's presence nearly as good omen.

"Khan's presence means a comeback of Bollywood to Kashmir. We've got expectations that his visit will send around the message that the valley is safe," said Abdul Aziz Tuman, heading a houseboats' owners association.

Khan, who might stay for a week, is shooting for a Yash Chopra's movie, whose name is still under the wraps. After Pahalgam, Khan and his co-star Anushka Sharma will shoot at Dal Lake.

Chopra is operating on a love-triangle film with Khan playing a military officer. The opposite stars are Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. Khan had earlier shot 'Dil Se' in 1990s at Kashmir's Ladakh region but never visited the valley.

Son Of Sardaar confirmed for Nov 13 release

By Hindustan Times

The festival of Diwali is usually a large ticket window for our B-town folks. This year too, two biggies, namely Yash Chopra's SRK- Katrina- Anushka starrer and Son Of Sardaar starring Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Juhi Chawla, are slated to clash on the B.O.

However, because the release date of November 13 fast approaches, there were some murmurs doing the rounds that this clash would possibly not happen. However those are only rumours. Son of Sardaar is actually releasing on November 13 and so is Yash Chopra's untitled film.

While YRF's film remains to be being shot, post-production work on Son Of Sardaar is already on in full swing in anticipation of a bumper Diwali day release. A COMPETENT source confirms to us that Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt are currently dubbing for the film in Hyderabad and all of the creative and marketing teams are brainstorming on setting up an innovative publicity blitzkrieg.

The production houses backing Son Of Sardaar namely Devgn Films, Viacom 18 Movies and YRV Infra & Media have actually prepared the ground for an all out release and feature licensed the global distribution rights to Eros International. The banners have kick-started their campaign in full swing to release the film with tremendous fanfare and go wide encouraged by positive reports from all their centers.

Well, this certainly puts a rest to all rumors circulating across the film for its release.

Aamir Khan enters Brazil with Fanaa!

By Hindustan Times

Aamir Khan could also be currently in Chicago shooting for Dhoom 3. However, he's ready to make his presence felt in Brazil. Fanaa, which had arrived greater than half a decade ago, is seeing a theatrical release within the country. What's surprising is this is one development which has caught even those related to the film by surprise.

"What is the entire more important is that the film is neither seeing a festival release neither is participating as part of any delegation. It's being given a mainstream release. The film has already released over the weekend passed by and given the selection of theaters and shows which were planned for it, seems like it might be enjoying a protracted stay", informs our source.

This can also be evidenced from the truth that the film has arrived nationwide across various states like Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Bahia, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Pernambuco and Maranhao Federal District. This makes it an important arrival not only for Aamir but any Bollywood film within the country, given the truth that Fanaa release is being checked out as flagship collaboration between Brazil and India.

When contacted, Kunal Kohli, the film's director, was surprised on the developments. Completely unaware about his biggest commercial success till date finding any such reception in remote Brazil, he could barely conceal his excitement.

"IT'S news to me and honestly quite fascinating as well", he said, "It is quite humbling to look a movie of mine travelling internationally and that too after six years. Greater than anything else, this can be a good piece of stories for Indian cinema. I'M HOPING the film makes an impact there and opens further doors for the industry."

One wonders how Aamir would react to the scoop while he enjoys his bike stunts in Chicago.

"I will tell the arena once I get married and calm down. I won’t hide my beloved. As actors, everyone’s desirous about our lives, which makes it important for us to carry directly to whatever little privacy we will. I MIGHT like to keep my personal life private after I get married."

Shahid opts out of Maneesh Sharma's next

By Hindustan Times

The start of Maneesh Sharma's next directorial untitled film for YRF was postponed. The film was originally scheduled to head on floor this September.

Both Maneesh and Jaideep Sahni, who has written the tale and screenplay, along side Aditya Chopra, have taken an artistic decision to incorporate lip-sync songs, which have been earlier not a part of the film.

The unfortunate fallout of that is that Shahid Kapoor, who was to play the lead, has needed to pull out as a result of his other commitments. With three other projects back to back, Shahid isn't capable of readjust his dates to house the revised schedule.

Maneesh, speaking on behalf of both Jaideep and himself, said, "Both Jaideep and i've decided to herald a few lip-sync songs for you to have to be recorded before we will go on floor. However, it's sad that Shahid has understandably needed to opt out for this reason delay given his packed schedule going forward."

While this development is a pity, YRF looks forward to working with Shahid Kapoor on another project being discussed with him for next year.

Music Review: Barfi! music is simple, flawless

By Hindustan Times

Pritam was hit with several allegations of plagiarism lately. With Barfi!, the music director hits back at critics with a vengeance throughout the soundtrack that has eight numbers. It's vintage Pritam at his best.

The album kicks off with the title track Barfi! with the sound of whistles greeting the listener. The song has an overly English charm and has Mohit Chauhan behind the mike. He provides a gentle and soulful begin to the number, bringing a grin on. Its peppy yet simple beats are a complete delight, while the lyrics bring out the naughtiness of Ranbir's character within the movie.

There is another version of the song Ala Barfi!. Crooned by Swanand Kirkire, it is a bit different from the unique and has more take care of the vocals. It's paying homage to Kishore Kumar's quirky melodies of yesteryears.

Next up is Main kya karoon, a romantic track penned by Ashish Pandit and crooned by the melodious Nikhil Paul George. The song recalls the passion of young romance and the tune may be very new age with an overly soft feel. However, it's the singer who steals the show here and makes you fall in love with the song.

Assam's poster boy in Bollywood, Papon, takes you back in time with the old fashioned Kyon, penned by Neelesh Mishra. The sound again could be very mellow. It's unusual in its feel and is Papon's show all of the way. His raw voice is impeccable, but he also gets good support from Sunidhi Chauhan within the vocals, making the track a very good composition.

It is followed by Aashiyan, which has an excessively Spanish feel to it with superb use of flute and other instruments. It is a very sweet song with a mesmerising composition by Pritam. The voices of Shreya Ghoshal and Nikhil Paul George blend oh-so-well to create the very best mood.

Next at the playlist is Sawaali Raat. It has a whispery tone and is something you surely haven't heard in a very very long time. With its romantic undertones, the song is exclusive and it's hard to mention whether it is a lullaby or something else. Arijit Singh of Raabta fame simply bowls you over together with his harmonious voice making you set this track on loop.

Rounding up the album is Phir le aya dil. Singer Rekha Bhardwaj lends her distinct voice to the number, which makes its option to your heart. The composition is nice with the interplay of piano and guitar, laced with Indian sounds. Pritam deserves all of the kudos for composing this sort of wonderful song.

It also has a reprise version by Arijit Singh. It's as pleasant because the original but has a more ghazal feel to it. There are different moods here - from time to time an Indian feel with the tabla and in some intervals, a jazz feel with the piano. However, it's the singer who sets the mood right by making a captivating experience for the listener together with his profound voice.

Overall, the soundtrack is a joyride sans flaws. Pritam has given many hits, but like his tunes in Life... in a Metro, this one could be remembered for breaking the monotony in his sound. There aren't any foot-tapping numbers or remixes here, however the simplicity that makes this album a winner.

So is Kareena the following Sheila (Katrina Kaif) in town, or the Anarkali (Malaika Arora)? Well, she's within the league of her own. Bebo does it in her style and succeeds. The lady's dance moves disappoint though. Her expressions make amends for it nevertheless.

Skin show is overrated: Ileana D’Cruz

By Hindustan Times

Ileana D’Cruz is mighty impressed with co-star Ranbir Kapoor’s performance of their upcoming film, Barfi!. However, she isn’t worried about being overshadowed by him or Priyanka Chopra. “I did this film because I'VE complete faith in Anurag (Basu, director) and how through which he represents
his characters. If I USED TO BE insecure about my role, I wouldn’t have done it. I’m confident of creating a mark. I USED TO BE nervous initially, because it could be very different from the movies I’ve done within the past.”

Ileana is understood for her glamourous roles down south. So will she do something about an identical career path in Hindi films too? “Being a glam girl in Hindi films isn't my goal. I WOULD LIKE acting-oriented roles. I WOULD LIKE people to take me seriously as an actor. Skin show is overrated anyway, and the similar goes for intimate scenes. They may get attention, but not for the best reasons,” insists the actor.

In the past, there were rumours linking Ranbir romantically to all his leading ladies. Did that make her wary at any stage? “Absolutely not. Men don’t scare me. I'VE an intimidating dad, so nothing comes on the subject of him,” she laughs, adding, “Link-ups may keep you within the news, but they may be able to work against you too. I’m glad I haven’t been associated with Ranbir. He's a pleasing person and a super co-star. I USED TO BE blown away while watching him perform.”

Ileana has done kissing scenes in her southern films, and now she’s locked lips with Ranbir in Barfi! too. How does she rate her co-star a kisser? She smiles and says, “I can’t comment because it wasn’t really a correct kiss. People keep asking me about it! But my focus was more at the emotion, for which it was needed.”

By Hindustan Times

Unmukt Chand led from front with an impressive hundred as India Under-19 lifted their third World Cup title after beating formidable defending champions Australia by six wickets within the final here today. This was India U-19s first triumph after Mohammed Kaif and Virat Kohli led their
respective teams to victory in 2000 and 2008 editions respectively.

Courtesy a powerful unbeaten 111 by Unmukt and his unbroken partnership of 130 runs with glovesman Smit Patel, India overhauled a competitive target of 226 on a bouncy strip with 14 balls to spare.

It was among the finest centuries you possibly can have witnessed on the junior level as Unmukt hit seven fours and as many as six sixes during his 130-ball knock.

He completed his century with a six over extra cover off Alex Gregory however the celebrations were very muted. The skipper knew that the job was only half done.

Hangal: Bollywood's favourite grandpa!

By Hindustan Times

Hailed once because the 'uncrowned king of theatre', AK Hangal was not very keen to enroll in films but ended up playing roles of the loving father or grandfather and doting servant of Bollywood with elan.

He played roles in films like "Sholay", "Shaukeen", "Namak Haram", "Aaina", "Avtaar", "Arjun", "Aandhi", "Kora Kagaz", "Bawarchi", "Chitchor", "Guddi", "Abhimaan", "Anamika" and "Parichay".

He was also a standard in Rajesh Khanna's starrers like "Aap Ki Kasam", "Amar Deep", "Naukri", "Thodisi Bewafaii" and "Phir Wohi Raat".

Playing the role of Rahim Chacha in "Sholay", he uttered those famous words, "Itna sannata kyon hai, bhai."

In his autobiography "The Life and Time of A K Hangal", he recounted how he ended up joining films and the way he struggled to shake off his 'gentleman' image in Bollywood though without much success.

"I never had ambitions about pursuing a career in films and was quite content with my amateur theatre work... Circumstances pulled me into the film world, though I'M REALLY NOT unhappy as a result of it. Here, I mingled with people from totally different sphere, called 'Show Business', or even after a few years in it, sometimes I BELIEVE like an outsider," he wrote.

Born as Avtaar Veenit Kishan Hangal right into a Kashmiri Pandit family in Peshawar, he was an active member of the Communist party there while working as a tailor. He actively participated in union activities and was arrested.

Hangal moved to Bombay in 1949 after spending two years in Pakistan prison. He came within the city of dreams on the age of 21 with Rs. 20 in his pocket.

Hangal was attracted to Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) in India. He got to work with Balraj Sahni and Kaifi Azmi in IPTA.

In his late 40s, Hangal was offered the a part of Raj Kapoor's brother in 1966 film "Teesri Kasam" by director Basu Bhattacharya but his scenes were far from the film.

There was no on reflection for him after that. He starred in over 200 films. His mostly played roles of father, uncle, grandfather or that of a meek and harassed old man, a picture he could never get rid off.

The veteran actor suffered a political backlash in 1993 when he applied for visa to go to his birthplace in Pakistan. He was invited and attended the Pakistan day celebrations by the consulate in Mumbai thereby incurring the wrath of the Shiv Sena.

Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray took offence and called him a traitor. A CHOICE to boycott his films was made, his effigies were burnt and his scenes were deleted from films.

He bounced back after two years with character roles in Amitabh Bachchan's home production "Tere Mere Sapne" and Aamir Khan's "Lagaan". He last shot for Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Paheli" in 2005.

He was awarded Padma Bhushan for his contribution to Hindi cinema in 2006.

The actor was in news last year for living a life in penury. His son Vijay, a retired still cameraman in Bollywood, appealed for help after failing to fulfill Hangal's medical expenses. Several Bollywood celebrities just like the Bachchans, producer-director Vipul Shah, and actors Mithun Chakraborty, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan came forward to assist him.

He returned to stand the studio lights again recently after an opening of 7 years for TV show 'Madhubala'.

Having reached the sets on wheelchair, Hangal was undecided if he could be capable of handle it physically. But he came in his elements once the cameras started rolling.

He has a 74-year-old son Vijay with late wife Manorama.
