Wrong to name me 'badshah of cricket': Shah Rukh

By Hindustan Times

Bollywood 'Badshah' Shah Rukh Khan refuses to be called the "badshah of cricket" following the hot title victory of his Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He says the credit for the win goes to all of the team.

"The team's badshah is our CEO Venky (Mysore), Jai (Mehta) and naturally the entire cricket team. It'd be wrong for us to take any credit for the win, me or Juhi (Chawla)," Shah Rukh said on Tuesday night after his return from Kolkata.

"We go there (at the field), pray to god and we like our team. But we do not work flat out just like the team. I WILL NOT take the credit from them and make contact with myself the badshah of cricket," he added.

A victory parade was held in Kolkata within the team's honour on Tuesday, and Shah Rukh celebrated on the Eden Gardens with West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and team co-owner Juhi Chawla.

Asked in the event that they plan to increase the celebrations to Mumbai, Juhi said: "WE HAVE NOT slept for 2 days, we were going crazy with happiness. First, there has been celebration in Chennai, then next day there has been a large celebration in Kolkata. It has been huge and overwhelming, it felt like now we have won the world."

KKR were crowned the IPL champions on Sunday night in Chennai once they beat Chennai Super Kings within the final match.
