Deadly music duos of Bollywood!

By Hindustan Times

Remembering music composer Laxmikant of the legendary duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal within the week of his death anniversary (25 May, 1998), one can’t help but consider Bollywood musical jodis (pairs) that experience created greater than just music. From Shankar-Jaikishen, Vishal-Shekhar and Anand-Milind to Nadeem-Shravan, Kalyanji-Anandji and Salim-Sulaiman, such partnerships have always ensured musical treats which generations have enjoyed!

People think that Sajid- Wajid is one person!
Another successful music composer duo that have been belting out superhit melodies and foot-tapping numbers for over a decade now's Sajid and Wajid. They have got just finished engaged on two eagerly-awaited big films — Rowdy Rathore and Teri Meri Kahaani. We caught up with the musicians to go with them about their newest chartbuster Mukhtasar Mulaqat (from Teri Meri Kahani), and through the meeting they revealed that folks still think that Sajid-Wajid is one person!

Making of Mukhtasar
Says Sajid, “We approached this song as a remix of a slow song as it has this sort of strong melody. The primary time Kunal made me take heed to the song, I heard it on my new music system. The minute this song began, I got up and began dancing. Since then, on every occasion we play Mukhtasar I dance like crazy. We named the song after a mukhtasar mulaqat (short meeting) with lyricist Prasoon Joshi and director Kunal Kohli.

Mukhtasar means “brief, short”. We already had a tune and went to look Prasoon. When I finished explaining the placement to him, he said, “Acha, toh ladka aur ladki ki ek mukhtasar mulaqat hoti hai!” (So the boy and woman meet briefly) and we had a eureka moment! I’m some of the few lucky music directors Prasoon writes for. He was worried whether these words would slot in the meter, but I always say that he has the meterwala pen!”
