‘English Vinglish’ written with Sridevi in mind, says R.Balki

Actress Sridevi at one time ruled Bollywood after delivering quite a few superhits like “Sadma”, “Chandni” “Chaalbaaz”, “Mr.India” and “Lamhe”. However, post marriage, the gorgeous actress comfortably settled into the confines of her home and family after her last release “Judaai” in 1997.

After a protracted gap of 15 years, Sri is making her comeback with R.Balki’s ‘English Vinglish’ where she plays a girl who struggles to talk in English. The movie is being directed by Balki’s wife Gauri Shinde and Balki says that the movie was written with Sridevi in mind.

“‘English Vinglish’ is an overly special film for me as it marks the comeback of Sridevi, possibly one of the crucial greatest performers. It was written and discussed keeping Sridevi in mind,” Balki told IANS adding, “She plays an easy woman who struggles with English language. In India, there's a significant issue – either you want money, otherwise you need fame otherwise you wish to talk in English to be considered part of the higher class.

There is lots of struggle and lot of individuals within the country who're insecure because they don’t know English. The film tackles that.”

The film is about to release on September 21 which also happens to be the discharge date of 2 more women centric films viz., Kareena Kapoor’s ‘Heroine’ and Preity Zinta’s comeback vehicle ‘Ishq In Paris’.
