Kareena won't convert to Islam to marry Saif

By Hindustan Times

She will follow in Sharmila Tagore's footsteps by wearing her sharara for the large day but Kareena Kapoor is not going to convert to Islam like her mom-in-law-to-be did 43 years back.

Kareena will reportedly not change her name or identity for marrying beau Saif Ali Khan.

In fact, Saif himself told Mail Today, "I MIGHT never want her (Kareena) to switch her religion. That's the trouble with religion really... it expects conversion. I DO NOT buy or believe that. I BELIEVE it's good that the government, too, has - unless I'm misinformed in regards to the law amended to incorporate it within the Special Marriage Act. If and once we do get married, nobody has to switch his or her religion."

In the past, the entire inter-religion marriages within the Pataudi family saw the ladies convert to Islam for the nikah. While Saif's Bengali mother Sharmila took the name of Ayesha Begum, his first wife Amrita Singh, too, converted and adopted a Muslim name.

The wedding will happen within the Pataudi palace, though it's uncertain whether the ceremonies might be done as per Hindu tradition or following Islam rituals.
