The release date tug-of-war between Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum (KSKHH) and Jism 2 has finally ended. The Tusshar Kapoor-Riteish Deshmukh-starrer is now set to open on July 27. Although producer Ekta Kapoor has averted a clash with Sunny Leone-starrer Jism 2 by advancing her film, the brand new date might just arrange a fresh and really interesting clash.
Riteish’s actor-wife Genelia D’Souza may additionally have a date with the massive screen on July 27. Her long-stuck film, Anees Bazmee’s It’s My Life, which also stars Harman Baweja, might release at the same day. And if that happens, husband and wife may be pitted against one another on the box office.
“July 27 is usually a possible release date for us, but it’s not confirmed yet. We'd push it to August,” says It’s My Life’s producer Boney Kapoor. When asked concerning the Riteish-Genelia collision, he says: “We will see how things go.”
Balaji Motion Pictures, the producers of KSKHH, state that their stand remains unchanged. “As you point out, the clash could be interesting, but it’s something that we don’t have any control over,” says Tanuj Garg, CEO of Balaji.
For them, what’s more important is having a clean weekend. “It has always been our philosophy avoid conflict with other films as it doesn’t help anyone. We only finally end up eating into each other’s business. AN EVEN release date may be very crucial for all filmmakers,” adds Garg.
Both Riteish and Genelia remained unavailable for comment.
