Karan Johar denies SRK-Kajol's on-screen comeback

By Hindustan Times

A few days ago, the Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ, 1995) jodi — Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol — made news again. The explanation was their reported onscreen reunion in Karan Johar’s next film. But ask KJo about it and he sounds surprised.

“No, there’s nothing. Right now, my entire focus is on Student Of The Year (SOTY). In fact, I haven’t planned a specific thing (so far as his new venture goes) next. Everything you
read or hear is simply conjecture,” says Karan, who last directed the pair in My Name Is Khan (2010).

It have been reported that he'll cast the duo in his next romantic film. And because he always works on one film at a time, it won’t be announced before the top of the year and won’t begin rolling before early next year.

“Of course it might always be my biggest honour to work with Shah Rukh and Kajol who, I believe, is the most productive pair Hindi cinema has ever seen. I MIGHT always need to work with them, but there’s nothing at the cards,” insists Karan, who also did a cameo as one in all SRK’s friends in DDLJ.

At the moment, Karan is busy with the post-production work on SOTY that doesn’t have any big star within the lead. Instead, the film will mark the launch of newcomers Alia Bhatt (Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter), Varun Dhawan (David Dhawan’s son) and model Siddharth Malhotra.

Rumours says SRK and Kajol are going to do a cameo while Rishi Kapoor will play a gay principal. That is KJo’s latest directorial venture after My Name Is Khan.
