I DO NOT play a gangster in Gulab Gang: Madhuri

By Hindustan Times

Actor Madhuri Dixit, who was roped in to play the lead in Anubhav Sinha's home production Gulab Gang, says, she isn't essaying a gangster and won't be mouthing bad words.

"I don’t know where these types of things (about abuses) came from. There may be nothing abusive within the movie. It's not even about gangsters. Within the film women aren't gangsters.. they're vigilantes. It's a couple of group of ladies who help other women and help solve their problem. In order that is what fascinated me about that.. because it is all about women power. They aren't gangsters," Madhuri told PTI in an interview.

Gulab Gang is a narrative of a gang of girls fighting against social injustice. The film directed by Soumik Sen is probably going to have Mahie Gill, Shilpa Shukla. Produced under Benaras Media Works banner, Gulab Gang would go on floors post monsoon and would release next year on Womens Day.

Also, Madhuri has signed at the dotted line for the sequel of Vishal Bhardwaj's Ishqiya, that is titled Dedh Ishqiya. Abhishek Chaubey had directed Ishqiya, which got great reviews and box office collections. The film was produced by Vishal Bhardwaj.

Even for the sequel the director, producer and lead actors Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi was retained. "I DON'T BELIEVE Dedh Ishqiya can also be called a girl centric film. There are four characters within the movie and all are important. I'M waiting for work with Naseeruddin and Arshad. I'M working with Naseeruddin Shah in a meaningful film after a very long time. And it's all about one up man ship, give and take and it is vitally interesting. We have not begun shooting yet," Madhuri said.

Post her marriage, Madhuri had relocated to the united states for nearly a decade. It was last year in October that she shifted her base back to Mumbai, with her family. And on work front, she signed two films and can judge dance reality show.
