Karan Johar’s decision to pass judgement on celebrity dancers on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 on Colors came as a surprise to many. Earlier this year, he announced that his celebrity chat show, Koffee With Karan, will return with its fourth season in a brand new format. It’s now slated to go back only next summer.
“I’m still engaged on my movie, Student Of The Year. And i've to provide it my 200 per cent, considering it’s my first endeavour with newcomers. I don’t wish to be distracted by another project,” explains Karan, adding, “Koffee With Karan isn't a very easy show to address. It takes a large number of effort to position everything together.”
Jhalak..., however, he says, lets him take a break: “It’s easier judging the dance show because I don’t need to do all of the running around. I just need to provide my honest viewpoint as a judge, which isn't asking too much,” says Karan, adding, “Once the show wraps up in September, I’ll channel all my energy in promoting Student Of The Year that releases soon after.”
Considering the expectancies from the dance show, is he personally stressed to steer the TRPs together with his presence? “I don’t know what works for TRPs. I just know I MUST judge with complete honesty and be as unbiased as I WILL be,” says Karan. Is he expected to bounce at any point?
“I won’t, because I can’t dance the way in which others can. Farah (Khan) and Remo (D’Souza) are choreographers first after which filmmakers. It’s easier for them. Not for poor filmmakers like me... We’re Pappus who can’t dance saala (sic)!”
