Vishal sings for free, money goes to charity

By Hindustan Times

As one-half of the successful music-duo, Vishal-Shekhar, and the lead singer of Pentagram, Vishal Dadlani has carved a distinct segment for himself. He's now going out of his solution to promote upcoming music director pair Sachin-Jigar in Ekta Kapoor’s latest film Kyaa Superkool Hai Hum. The young duo
came up with the idea that of a fab and cool song called ‘Dil garden garden ho gaya’ for which they were on the lookout for a novel voice. Vishal’s name came up almost immediately.

“Since Balaji (FILMS) has worked with Vishal as a music director within the Dirty Picture, they've an ideal equation with him. Everyone felt that he's the most efficient fit. We don’t have an overly big budget for this film, and we told him so. But since he's very impressed with Sachin-Jigar’s work, he decided to sing the song for free,” says an insider from the production unit.

However, the makers have decided to pay Vishal in a singular way. “We know that he supports Music Basti, a Delhi-based charity that organises music education programmes, and we've got decided to donate all of the amount to this charity on his behalf. Now we have informed him about it and he feels it’s an excellent gesture,” adds the insider.

The CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, Tanuj Garg confirms: “We were very keen for Vishal to sing Dil garden garden and he has done a spectacular job. Now it’s our turn to go back the favour, so we will be able to make a donation to the charity soon. It’s good karma."

Dil garden garden...
Talks are rife of lyricist Mayur Puri being inspired by Gulshan Grover’s famous Dil garden garden catchphrase from International Khiladi (1999). However, Puri denies it saying, “It’s a typical phrase in North India used to explain a sense of joy. The tone of the song was set with this as a hook.”
