Sujoy Ghosh's Vidya Balan starrer Kahaani has written a brand new success story. The movie has not just completed 50 days on the box office, it has collected Rs. 104 crores from India and overseas.

"Kahaani celebrates 50 days on the BO. Grosses 104 cr worldwide. Fabulous!" Trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted on Friday morning.

"@AniGuha @krnx #Kahaani gross figure from India + Overseas theatrical is 104 cr. Nett figure [India] is, of course, lower," Adarsh said in a respond to a follower.

"My intention was to make a movie and play with the script beautifully, I never considered the industrial aspect," Sujoy Ghosh had said in an interview.

"It's ultimately the film's script and the word of mouth so that they can ensure success for the movie," he added.

Director Sujoy Ghosh says he decided to take a risk with Vidya Balan starrer Kahaani, which looked an overly unfilmable story on paper. Sujoy says he was discouraged from making the film which had a pregnant woman because the lead star, a host of unknown actors and Kolkata as a backdrop after Home Delivery and Aladin failed on the box office.

"There was no guarantee whether this may increasingly work because whilst you look on paper, Kahaani is everything that a film shouldn't be. What's interesting in regards to the film is that it had no crutches but acting and how we told the tale. My heart was set on it though people discouraged me and many things happened. You get discouraged at every turn to your life but once your heart is about on something it is vitally hard to do anything and that is what happened to me," he said in a single of his interviews.

Sujoy feels that another thing that worked for the film was that he had a team whose faith within the story matched his conviction.
