Vivek Oberoi to play a cop in Saali Khushi

After memorable outings as a gangster, actor Vivek Oberoi is ready to don a cop’s avatar in director Sagar Ballary’s next, Saali Khushi. Written by Saajan Agarwal, the film is a human interest drama set amidst dance bars and the underworld. “It has got funny shades, however it isn't a comedy,” say Ballary in regards to the film that may be set to move at the floors in May.

The director is attempting to get Mallika Sherawat because the female lead. “There are some date issues with Mallika. I AM HOPING they are going to be sorted out soon,” he says.

He also rubbishes speculations that he had paired the 2 actors for producer-duo Nadir and Nariman Irani’s untitled project that was shelved, and that Vivek and Mallika were then asked to go back their signing amounts.
“We never roped in Vivek and Mallika for every other film,” says the Bheja Fry (2007) director. “And since we were never in talks with Mallika, there has been no signing amount. I don’t understand how such rumours spread.”

Saali Khushi also stars Zakir Hussain, Rajpal Yadav, Abhimanyu Singh, and Sanjay Mishra.“I have gotten an ensemble cast from the National School of Drama and am happy to work with them,” says Ballary.

The film is being produced by debutant Mukesh Chaudhary under his banner, Street Act Production. Ballary took up the project as he was swayed by the storyline and the star cast.

Ask whether the film has item numbers as well, and he says, “Given the setting of the film, it has four item numbers.”
