Kareena Kapoor is also shooting for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine in Thailand on the moment, but she’s already serious about working in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela. The 2 of them had desired to do a film together long ago in 1999, right after Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (HDDCS), but eventually that didn't work out.
Now, an evidently thrilled Kareena has honoured Bhansali by calling him “the truest successor to Raj Kapoor’s legacy”. She says, “I wish my grandfather, Raj Kapoor, was alive. Though I HAVE NOT worked with him, I'M now working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali whose films take his legacy forward in a real sense.”
About their upcoming film, a source tells us, “The film is an Indian adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. It will likely be filmed mostly in Gujarat, and can have the type of grandeur seen in HDDCS, which was also shot there.” Kareena will star opposite Ranveer Singh within the film.
The source adds, “There could be 11 songs, similar to HDDCS had.” Kareena is to begin shooting for the film once she completes Heroine.
Bhansali says, “Kareena and i've desired to interact for an extended time, since HDDCS. We're both happy and looking out forward to start shooting soon.”
As her 13-year wait to work with Bhansali is finally over, the Agent Vinod actor says, “I’ve been trying to work with a filmmaker like Bhansali for an extended time.”
