Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt posted, "Adieu Hangal Saab! What an innings!!!" "A K Hangal no more, an era involves an end. Theatre and movies were enriched by him," singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya said. "Veteran Actor A K Hangal not more... just kicked the bucket. Had great moments with him at IPTA...may his soul rest in peace," filmmaker Ashok Pandit said.
Ashmit Patel tweeted, "A moment of 'sannata' for the grand ol' man of Indian cinema. #RIP AK Hangal Sahab."
"A K Hangal, RIP. respect," said Ranvir Shorey.
Director Anubhav Sinha wrote, "IS THAT THIS a year of deaths? Such a lot of people just moving directly to the opposite side. RIP Mr Hangal."

Jitendra Raghuvanshi, National General Secretary of IPTA said that during the demise of A K Hangal, who was the National President of the theatre association, said the rustic had lost an ideal" artist and patriot".
"Hangal had given all his time and resources to theatre, films and social service, doing nothing for himself. Immediately after the death of his daughter in law in 1994, he went straight to the studios to finish his assignments," said Raghuvanshi.
