By Hindustan Times

The condition of veteran actor AK Hangal, admitted to the Asha Parekh Hospital in Mumbai last week, is rather critical, his son said on Friday.

"Right now my father's condition is little serious, can't say anything. He has a breathing problem and is in ICU right now," Vijay Hangal told IANS.

"He is within the ICU and is condition is critical," he added.

Hangal was hospitalised following an enormous hip fracture.

"He was hospitalised at Asha Parekh Hospital. He fell down at home when he was going to the washroom. He had a hip fracture. A surgery was about to happen, but during checkup many more complications came up so that they couldn't do the surgery. There has been congestion in his chest so separate treatment was also started for that," said Vijay Hangal.

The 98-year-old AK Hangal, related to the Hindi film industry since 1967, recently appeared in a job within the television show Madhubala.

He is better known for his roles in Sholay, Lagaan among other films.
