Amitabh Bachchan to play Pak national in Pookutty's directorial debut?

By Hindustan Times

If all goes well, Amitabh Bachchan will play a Pakistani national in Oscar winner sound designer Resul Pookutty's directorial debut. Pookutty confirms that he has approached Bachchan for the role, reports Mumbai Mirror.

“I have approached Mr Bachchan for the film that I NEED to direct. The nature is from another country. However it isn't a political film. It’s an especially humane subject that touches the lives of individuals on each side of the border,” Pookutty told the tabloid.

Pookutty who bagged an Academy award for Best Sound Mixing says that his old classmate Amitabh Singh approached him with the script of the movie.

"I was completely blown away. I needed to direct this film, and direct it with Mr Bachchan within the lead," Pookutty was quoted by the tabloid.

Meanwhile Big B can be back with the fresh season of Kaun Banega Crorepati on September 7.

He has also recorded a unique song for the sixth season of the show and says he had butterflies in his stomach while recording with Bollywood composer duo Salim-Sulaiman.

The 69-year-old actor said that the mock rehearsals for KBC has began because the show is able to go on air from September 7.

"The of entirety is the session at Salim-Sulaiman's recording studio later at night to record a song for KBC, and my extreme hesitation in doing so for this can be a moment full of immense self consciousness," Bachchan had posted on his blog.
