Veteran actor AK Hangal dies in Mumbai

Veteran actor AK Hangal died on Sunday at Asha Parekh hospital in Mumbai. He was 98-year-old.

He was admitted to the hospital in suburban Santacruz on August 16. He was on life support. He'll be cremated at 1pm near Pavan Hans opposite Nanavati hospital, in keeping with reports.

Hangal slipped and fell down in his bathroom on August 13, fracturing his right femur (thigh) bone.

Hangal, who have been out and in of hospital for the reason that previous couple of years, suffered from several ailments including tuberculosis, hypertension and kidney dysfunction. Doctors getting to him felt that he had to be operated on but considering his advanced age it was decided that he was not fit for surgery.

The yesteryear actor, who has acted in over 200 films, is healthier known for character roles in films like Namak Haram, Sholay, Shaukeen, Aaina, Bawarchi and others.

Recently, he returned to stand the studio lights after seven years for TV Series Madhubala.
